"Hands down one of the most creative and unusual albums I’ve heard in the past year, This One Earth is an amalgam of spoken word lyrics, sung vocals, lush synthesizer melodies and superb chill-out beats. Harpist Danielle Ballantine has a wonderful singing and speaking voice as well as an adroit command of electronic music and rhythms. Color me impressed by both her artistry and imagination. Inspired by a deep love of nature (10% of the CD’s profits will go to the International Tree Foundation), Ballantine’s narration is enlightening and provocative in the best sense of the word. And her flowing melodies—buoyed by percolating well-chilled rhythms (comparable to Enigma and Ryan Farish)—prove equally alluring. Seldom does one hear music this sensually appealing supporting words which appeal to the soul and the mind in equal parts.
